In its first four years of existence the Dragons organization was something of a joke around the league. In no season had they won more than 59 nine games in any season and at the start of 1905 they were coming off their worst record which included a meager amount of 49 wins. The team then started to earn some respect last season with the emergence of a solid pitching staff and an improvement of 18 wins over the previous season.
