In May Kip Johnston put up award-winning numbers, batting his way to a Rookie of the Month award in the United League.
The Los Angeles third baseman stroked 40 hits as he compiled a .417 average with no home runs and 8 RBIs.
So far in 2054 Johnston has hit .374 with no home runs and 13 RBIs. He has played in 35 games and scored 7 times. |
 | Monday, June 1st, 2054: Cristián Estrada Winner in May
The United League Batter of the Month has been picked for May and the honor goes to the Los Angeles Gunslingers Cristián Estrada.
He compiled a .370 batting average with 37 hits and 9 home runs, along with 33 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
Thus far this year Estrada is batting .283 with 10 home runs, 48 RBIs and 34 runs scored. |
 | Sunday, May 17th, 2054: Aquino Superb Against Mexico City
In an outstanding mound performance, Iván Aquino of the Los Angeles Gunslingers scuttled the Mexico City Coyotes 4-0 on a 4-hit shutout, ringing up 6 strikeouts and giving up 1 walk.
"He's got great stuff and good movement," the Mexico City manager said after the game.
"He threw a lot of breaking balls. He made adjustments. We just couldn't figure him out today."
This season Aquino has registered 3 wins and 3 losses in 10 starts with a 3.90 ERA.
