Thursday, August 6th, 2054: 5-Hit Game for Goodman!
At Ballpark of Phoenix Kelsey Goodman was the King of Swing today in the 14-13 win over the Clippers.

The Phoenix center fielder stepped into the batter's box 7 times against the Duluth and delivered 5 hits.

It was a sensational game for him. He excitedly told the press, "Unbelieveable feeling. Unbelieveable. It felt good. It felt great. What a day! 5 for 7! It does wonders for your batting average, too."

K. Goodman singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, grounded out in the 8th, flied out in the 11th and hit an RBI single in the 13th.

For 2054 Goodman is hitting .364 with no home runs. His stats include 2 RBIs and 5 runs scored.
Sunday, July 19th, 2054: Seals Win, Shut Out Fire
Ramón Rentería effectively shut down the Fire today, blanking them 5-0 on 2 hits, ringing up 4 strikeouts and allowing 1 walk. The Seals pitcher appeared to get stronger as the game went on.

"I don't know if I was getting any stronger," Rentería said after the game, "I feel like my mechanics were getting better. I was able to make some adjustments and get a little more comfortable out there."

The Fire skipper said, "We had some opportunities, but weren't able to execute. We just didn't swing the bats very well today."

Thus far this season, Rentería has worked 207 innings with 65 strikeouts en route to a 17-6 record and a 2.30 ERA.
Thursday, June 18th, 2054: Alexander Goes 5-5 Against Phoenix
It was a big day with the bat for Steve Alexander of the Cleveland Blues at Blues Ballpark as he bashed out hit after hit after hit to defeat Phoenix 7-5.

To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today -- Bingo! -- 5 hits in 5 tries! But my hits are not the big thing in the game. The victory is the important thing. That's the story."

At the end of the game Alexander had collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy. He had a big day with the bat. And the Blues had won.

The beat writers were happy, too. They had their big story -- they could write about his big day with the bat.

S. Alexander singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off T. Kidd in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

For the year Alexander is batting .331 with 89 hits and 5 home runs. He has scored 37 times and driven in 40.
