| Breaking News | | Wednesday, July 29th, 2054: Stanley Raps Cleveland for 5 Hits It seemed that Terre Haute right fielder James Stanley could do no wrong as the Jets kayoed the Blues 13-10 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 5 at-bats. Cleveland pitchers couldn't get him out as Stanley seemed to know which pitches they were throwing.
"I think the Jets were stealing signs." growled one unhappy Cleveland fan.
"I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play." exclaimed the jubilant Stanley in the postgame press interview.
J. Stanley doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off K. Kuai in the 8th.
In the 2054 season Stanley is batting .326 with 128 hits and 8 home runs. He has scored 59 times and batted in 47. | | Sunday, July 19th, 2054: Jiménez Magnificent in Terre Haute Win Carlos Jiménez really wowed everybody at the ballpark with his 7-0 shutout victory over Terre Haute today. The Harrisburg pitcher mystified the Jets in a strong performance. He gave up 4 hits and totaled 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
His manager said, "Carlos had them chasing a lot of pitches and turning around and saying 'wow' . . . we were thinking the same thing, too. It was something special to watch."
His record this season is 10-7 in 22 starts and Jiménez has a 3.42 ERA. | | Thursday, July 9th, 2054: Shreveport's Sun Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits Zuo-lin Sun exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Mudbugs Ballpark. The Shreveport right fielder had a field day in the 10-9 triumph over the Terre Haute Jets, finishing up with a 5-6 day and a spot in the league record book.
"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus just to see the ball and try to get a good pitch."
Well, Sun must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
Z. Sun grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Year-to-date in 83 games Sun has compiled a .297 batting average with 90 hits and 5 home runs. He has also scored 41 times and knocked in 46 runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 5-2, .714 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 2.0 GB | | Record at home | 2-2, .500 PCT | | Record on the road | 3-0, 1.000 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 1-1, .500 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 3-1, .750 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 2-1, .667 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-2, .714 PCT | | Record in April | 5-2, .714 PCT |
