Friday, August 7th, 2054: Harris Socks It to Generals, Cracks 5 Hits
What a day for Emmett Harris of the La Crosse River Bandits! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen everyday. He ripped Hattiesburg pitching apart at River Bandits Ballpark. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing up his special day 5-5. But the Generals spoiled his party by winning the game 8-3.

The La Crosse center fielder confessed, "I would have much preferred getting a couple of hits and winning the game to this. It's hard to enjoy anything when you lose."

His skipper said, "It's a shame that we couldn't have won the game. A guy gets a once-in-a-lifetime game and can't really enjoy it."

But he was upbeat enough to talk about his basic theory of hitting. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Harris told SION reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that."

Monday, July 13th, 2054: Morris Week's Top Player
The Player of the Week has been announced by the United League A. The award went to Sylvester Morris, left fielder of the Hattiesburg Generals.

He dominated league pitchers with a .654 average to win the honor. Morris went 17-26 for the week, totaled 1 home run with 6 RBIs and scored 5 times.

So far this year Morris is hitting .418 with 5 home runs.

Tuesday, July 7th, 2054: Morris 6-6 for Generals
Who needs batting practice? Sylvester Morris of Hattiesburg apparently doesn't as he battered Greensburg with a 6-hit outburst in today's game to lead his club to a 12-3 win.

He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 6 for 6 day... will my name be in the record books now?"

S. Morris singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

For 2054 Morris is batting .406 with 4 home runs, 57 RBIs and 55 runs scored.
