| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, November 3rd, 2054: Best Hurler Award Presented by FLR It was a great year for Iván Ruíz of the Tuscaloosa Heat. He put up some lofty numbers and was rewarded with the Federal League R Outstanding Pitcher Award.
Ruíz was the league's premier pitcher this past season with a 9-1 mark. He started 10 games, hurled 81 innings, fanned 37 strikeouts and crafted a 2.44 ERA. The 23-year-old hurler held opponents to a .227 average and issued 21 walks.
He will be honored this weekend at the SION Baseball Writers Association annual awards banquet. |  | Wednesday, October 21st, 2054: Tallahassee Turtles Win Round 3 You could hear the cheering all over Tallahassee as the Turtles secured the final out of a 16-5 win over the Tuscaloosa Heat to capture the 2054 TTBL Rookie League Round 3 4-3. It was the 1st time in the team's history to win it.
"The Heat are a good ballclub," said the winning skipper, "We had to play at our best to beat them."
"Anytime you make big plays, it changes the momentum of the game," the losing manager said. "The Turtles made 'em and we didn't -- end of story."
During the season the new champs compiled a 35-27 record in the United League R Division 3 and finished in first place in the standings. |  | Wednesday, August 19th, 2054: Davidson Slaps 5 Hits Fraser Davidson really sizzled at the plate today. In a game played at Tuscaloosa Field, the Tuscaloosa right fielder blistered the Fort Madison River Rats for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace his club to a 7-0 victory.
"Davidson was too tough to get out today," the River Rats skipper said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
F. Davidson singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off D. Davis in the 8th.
