| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, September 1st, 2054: FLR Honors August's #1 Pitcher
The Federal League R made it official today -- Mauro Gonzáles of the Penobscot Loggers is the Pitcher of the Month. In August he impressed the sportswriters with his domination of league hitters.
Gonzáles made 6 starts, registered 6 wins and no losses with a solid 0.84 ERA. In 42.2 innings he allowed 38 hits, racked up 19 strikeouts, walked 10 and permitted teams to hit .230 against him.
This season to date, Gonzáles has fashioned a 6-1 mark and 1.46 ERA in 55.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .243 against him and he has logged 20 strikeouts.

 | Friday, August 21st, 2054: Yamashita Mystifies Twin Falls
Yasuhide Yamashita of the Penobscot Loggers was firing on all cylinders against the Twin Falls Kings. He blanked them 9-0 on 1 hit and posted 7 strikeouts and 1 walk.
Yamashita has started 5 times this year, pitched 40.2 innings, fanned 31 batters and walked 2. His current record is 3 wins and 1 loss with a 0.89 ERA.

 | Wednesday, August 12th, 2054: Hot Hitter! Alexander Blisters Joliet!
5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Tom Alexander of the Penobscot Loggers.
He tore up the Joliet Shoeless Joes to the tune of 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the Penobscot 12-1 win today at Loggers Ballpark.
"Alexander was a tough out today," the Joliet manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
T. Alexander hit an RBI single in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a three-run home run off D. Burns in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
So far this season Alexander has hit .284 with 2 home runs, 13 RBIs and and scored 16 times.
