It was a hits blitz for Takeshi Yoshikawa at Ballpark of Glen Rock. The Bull Head City Totem Poles first baseman tore into Independence for 6 hits in 6 at-bats to pace Totem Poles to a 19-4 victory and wrote his name into the baseball record book.
The manager for the Indians bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Yoshikawa, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game."
T. Yoshikawa hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off G. Brown in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
Currently Yoshikawa has 16 home runs and a .367 batting average.

Players get multi-hit games all the time. But a 5-hit game only comes around once in a blue moon. It happened at Ballpark of Independence when Keun-ho Hwangbo of Independence scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Dublin Black Dragons.
He walloped 5 hits in 5 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Indians get by the Black Dragons 10-8.
In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the catcher of the Indians exclaimed, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens...good things happen...like 5-5. I could get used to a lot of days like this one."
K. Hwangbo singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
This season Hwangbo has hit 1 home run and posted a .377 batting average.

 | Monday, August 24th, 2054: Preston Brilliant, Blanks River Rats
Independence pitcher Michael Preston put on a show today and walked away with a 8-0 shutout victory over the Fort Madison River Rats, throttling them on 3 hits. He just cruised through their lineup, fanning 2 and walking 2 in a strong outing.
"He was very efficient and he hit his spots," his manager said. "He stayed down in the zone and stayed away from the middle of the plate."
Preston has gone 2-3 this season with an ERA of 2.97 and 10 strikeouts in 39.1 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .238 against him.
