Thursday, September 24th, 2054: Stuart Shuts Out Fighters
In an almost effortless performance, David Stuart of the Water Wolves shot down the Fighters 10-0 on a 3-hit shutout.

His skipper said, "David was just locating so well and using his pitches...not leaving anything over the plate."

Stuart recorded 4 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.

In the postgame press conference, the Fort Wayne manager said, "When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game like he can and we couldn't get a key hit off him."

This season Stuart has a 7-4 mark in 14 starts with a 3.87 ERA. He has given up 115 hits in 97.2 innings, struck out 36 and issued 23 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .291 batting average against him.
Sunday, September 13th, 2054: Welch Hurls Fort Wayne to Shutout Victory
Everything clicked on the hill today for Marc Welch of the Fort Wayne Fighters as he hurled his club to a 5-0 shutout win over the Morgantown Miners, limiting them to 4 hits while recording 8 strikeouts and yielding no walks. He overpowered some batters with his fastball and buckled knees with his sharp breaking pitches.

"We had our shot at him a couple of different times," the Miners manager said, "but we weren't able to get to him."

In 2054 Welch has compiled a 4-1 record with a 1.79 ERA in 6 starts.
Thursday, September 3rd, 2054: Welch Guns Down Hurricanes
Marc Welch was downright nasty in pitching a 3-0 shutout against Key West. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the Hurricanes were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 4-hit shutout the Fighters hurler chalked up 5 strikeouts and 2 walks in a strong outing.

"As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes."

This season Welch has a 2-1 mark in 4 starts with a 2.58 ERA. He has given up 32 hits in 38.1 innings, struck out 24 and issued 9 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .224 batting average against him.
