| Breaking News | | Saturday, May 9th, 2054: Hits Galore! MacRob Drills 5 Hits! 5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book.
In the Stallions 15-4 win over Austin, Bill MacRob was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Stallions Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day MacRob delivered 5 hits in 6 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.
B. MacRob singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and singled in the 9th.
To date this season MacRob is hitting .309 with 7 home runs. | | Monday, May 4th, 2054: Week's Premier Performer Honored by UL The United League presented its most recent Player of the Week Award to Austin Senators first baseman Joseph Barrett.
"His numbers speak for themselves," a club publicist said. "He's been really seeing the ball well."
Indeed, Barrett has. Last week he went 13 for 26, batted .500 with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs.
In 2054 Barrett is batting .391 with 6 home runs. | | Thursday, April 23rd, 2054: van Egmond 5-6 Against Hooks On top of the Austin hit parade today was Reuben van Egmond. He went to the plate 6 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Senators to victory 7-6 over the Cape Cod Hooks. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 5-6 performance.
The sweet swinging center fielder told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
The skipper of the Hooks wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
R. van Egmond grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 8th, hit an RBI single in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off J. Saldaña in the 12th.
So far in 2054 van Egmond is batting .280 with 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and 13 runs scored. He has 23 hits in 82 at-bats and a .378 OBP. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | 2B Chris Marshall | finger blister | 3 days | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 31-28, .525 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 19-13, .594 PCT | | Record on the road | 12-15, .444 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 3-3, .500 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 11-6, .647 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 8-9, .471 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 23-19, .548 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in March | 1-1, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 17-11, .607 PCT | | Record in May | 13-16, .448 PCT |
